Once used as a knackery, The Nak sits tranquilly secluded at the edge of Victoria’s Gippsland region. Our clients wanted a simple, bunker-like home that provides privacy and allows them to lock-and-leave for long periods of time and they got it. This house is a champion of adaptive re-use, with timber-framed openings cut into the remnant blockwork to facilitate natural light and fresh air, and a mezzanine bedroom with openings that connect to the tree canopy beyond. Downstairs, a large sliding door opens the bathroom up to nature, bringing the outside in.
